Back pain: symptoms, therapy, prevention.

Most people have had back pain at least once. The pain usually occurs in the lower back. The causes can be both the consequences of the most common cold, and a serious injury.

Characteristics of occurrence

lower back and back pain

Back pain can be constant or intermittent and acute or chronic. It depends on various circumstances. Common reasons for their appearance:

  • disc rupture;
  • menstrual cramps;
  • osteoporosis;
  • kidney stones;
  • broken posture;
  • spinal injury;
  • osteoarthritis;
  • appendicitis;
  • tumor;
  • Weightlifting.

back pain symptoms

The pain differs depending on the disease. For example, when a disc is compressed, there is sudden or gradually increasing pain. It starts in the back and spreads to the buttocks and legs. A person needs to rest, since movement, sneezing and coughing only increase the pain. A disease such as appendicitis causes severe back pain. If it doesn't go away, see a doctor right away! Symptoms of endometriosis are pain and spasms in the lower back. Usually before or during the menstrual cycle, the pain intensifies. When the lower back is stretched, a sharp pain occurs, with lateral movements, a muscle spasm occurs. Rest can make you feel better.

Symptoms indicating a problem:

back pain when sitting
  • dizziness;
  • noise in the ears;
  • weakness;
  • pulling, aching, constant back pain;
  • numbness in the extremities;
  • pain when tilting the head and turning the body.

The most dangerous symptoms:

  • violation of urination;
  • dyspnoea;
  • nausea vomiting;
  • pain intensification.

Pain diagnosis

It is enough for an experienced doctor to examine the spine and listen to the patient's complaints to diagnose the disease. But there are situations where these actions alone are not enough. In these cases, special diagnostic methods are used: X-rays, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.

Treatment

Once the diagnosis is made, the following therapeutic measures are carried out:

  • manual therapy;
  • injections;
  • physiotherapy;
  • acupuncture;
  • Surgical treatment;
  • drug therapy;
  • medical gymnastics;
  • massage.

Help relieve back pain and home remedies:

  1. Grate horseradish and mix with sour cream. Put the resulting mass on the lower back, cover with a napkin and tie a woolen scarf or scarf on top.
  2. Use St. John's wort, thyme, black elderberry, and chamomile. A hot compress of these herbs with a wrap will warm your back well if it's been cold. The procedure is best done at night.
  3. Burdock leaves have a healing effect. Dry them first, then pour them with boiling water and apply to the sore spot for an hour.
  4. Horse chestnut is widely used. Grind dried flowers well to powder, take melted lard and camphor oil, mix the ingredients in equal proportions. Spread the mixture on a piece of black bread and apply it to the sore spot.
  5. Use compresses based on garlic infusion. It is mixed with lemon juice. Soak a cotton napkin in this mixture and apply for twenty minutes to a sore spot.

Prevention

The best way to prevent back pain is a variety of physical exercises. It is also necessary to control the correct posture when walking and sitting. Weightlifting is contraindicated not only for women, but also for men.

If you suffer from constant back pain, immediately contact your GP who, if necessary, will refer you to a neurologist, orthopaedist, surgeon or nephrologist.
